Love sounds and connotes different meaning to different individual… which means that Some meanings we give to love is not actually love.
Recently I had a story of a lady who goes about claiming that the husband doesn’t love her simply because the man has never hit her… This lady grew up from a dysfunctional home where it was a norm for the father is always hit the mum with the mum telling them that the father hits her because he loves her…
Does the heart really jump into the stomach when one is in love? I really wonder
Is love really a feeling?
Well If love were to be a feeling, then it means that You only love someone when you feel happy and despise the person when you feel sad.
The following is what I have come to know and understand about LOVE.
Love is knowledge. Having knowledge of the person you claim to love shows you understand the person.
Love is understanding… Understanding the pains, struggle, weakness, attachment, agony, joy, happiness, laughter of your partner and looking for ways to constantly help your partner.
Understanding what scares, and uplifts your partner. Understanding what it means to be in the shoes of your partner.
Understanding the worth of who you claim you love, having great understanding of the person’s usefulness in your life, in your dream, in your destiny.
Love defends… defending your partner in front of your family members while correcting without being judgmental to your partner behind.
Defending your partner to your children.
Love is appreciation… Human beings love to be appreciated, so your partner is not excluded from people that love to be appreciated, So do not be shy to tell your partner how much you appreciate him. It helps in boasting and building happy moments in your home.
Use sincere words and not flattery. Privately appreciate him and publicly appreciate him.
Love is filled with Passion. when you claim you love someone, you have to be passionate about helping him achieve his dreams.
Love is commitment, sacrifice, enjoyment
Love is sense of humor. Find interesting things to laugh about your relationship with him, not mock but laugh while enjoying your moments with him.
Love is Respect, when you claim to love someone, you respect the person, you respect the person’s boundaries.
Love is an assignment, it is the responsibility you owe to yourself, the responsibility you owe to the person you love.
To love effectively you must love yourself first. You will agree with me that you can only love someone as much as you love yourself.
Let’s hear what LOVE MEANS TO YOU.
