“There is partner and there is life partner”
I have always wanted to be with a man like my dad, one who will take care of me, a best friend, someone to be with even in my old age… My girly list.
HOW WE MET
I just concluded my one year National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) when I met my husband in 2012. Like magic, we kicked off our relationship after his visit to our home. At first, it felt somehow to me as I was still analyzing what I feel for him, because it was not really clear to me, but gradually I developed great feeling for him. It was like an explosion, and each time I see him, my heart throbs for him.
OUR FIRST DATE
Our first date was filled with talks about ourselves. I had my girly list to what I want in a man. I want someone that will take care of me, love me like my Dad, a best friend, someone that I will be with even in my old age. I needed not just a partner but a life’s partner. So when he found me and he asked if I will marry him after days of dating… I said YES because I love him, and am always happy being around him. We got married in 2013, and yes, I am very happy with the choice I made.
I do not like dishonest, and distrust, I had three breakups which my siblings were there for me during the harsh and sorrowful part of my life, and I will want them to still be my siblings in my next world.
My advice to unmarried ladies is: just be yourself, you do not need to push yourself to any man, and your life partner will emerge.
Take good advice from your parents, it worked for me. My parent’s advice helped me too. Know that family is important, no matter how life toss you around remember that family is the strongest weapon you have. Be patience, honest with self and men, everything will be alright and work together for you.
