Working in a law firm made me view lawyers as liars, cheats that joke around with women’s attention.

 I was on an industrial attachment with a law firm somewhere in Port Harcourt. I worked with lawyers who go out with different kind of women and being that they are successful, women never stopped flocking around them. The environment groomed my mindset about lawyers in a certain way, so I didn’t help but generalize male lawyers the same. But Meeting my husband in 2013, changed my perceptive about lawyers, and I got to understand that it has to do with a person’s personality.

HOW WE MET

The faithful day that I met him, I was supposed to pick a tricycle or bike home from work that evening. As I was patiently waiting for a tricycle, I felt a hand that tapped me from behind and turning to look at who it was, he said:

      Hello my name is Bar. Reginald stretching forth his hands, what’s your name…? I’m Nancy. (Nancy is not my real name but I so much cherish the name and after we got married, my husband adopted the name for me with newspaper publication.)

He said, Okay, can I have your number… here you go… I said. I gave him my number and he left. Was he just there to get my number, I wondered but I didn’t mind the thought so I focused on getting home first because I was so tired from the day’s work and it was getting late.

OUR FIRST DATE

Fast forward to my first date with him… Our discussion centered on me, who I am, what I do and what I will love to do. He also told me about himself, he told me where he is from… Simply getting to know ourselves better and our relationship kicked off from there. He is so lovely, and caring. I will say he is a wonderful man. I love touring in relationship, so I didn’t waste time touring in this one.

CHALLENGES

There is no relationship with zero problems and misunderstanding, so mine was not an exception. We had our issues, we broke up once and reconciled. We continued the dating romance, and there was no room for popping of the question, we went ahead to marriage after our first baby in 2017.

There is no present without a past, my past relationships, yes, relationships, I had quite a number of them and being the kind of person I am, if it is not working out, I simply walk away.

MY LIST

I won’t say I had a list of what I wanted in a man but I wanted a simple man, one who will really love me for who I am, take care of me, a God fearing and reasonable person. A man with conscience for crying out loud.

ABOUT HIM

I will not call him perfect but he is a great man. For stature, I love plump sized light skinned men. I found everything, I wanted in a man in him, so there was no need to delay or stay back.

I am really happy. If you wake me up in my sleep, my response will be: ” I’m Perfectly Very Happy with My Relationship” I won’t have asked for someone better. He is the best, and we are happily together.

BEFORE MARRIAGE

Before I got married, I was eager to get a man of my choice but I was never in a hurry, I was not desperate but I got him. Desperation is not good when it comes to marriage and no matter how long it takes, in due time and course, the right person will surface. Who knows, he might be around the corner without you noticing him. Take a look around.

MY ADVICE

My advice to unmarried ladies is: Take your time, for marriage is a life time commitment, it is not like dating relationship where you walk in and out whenever it pleases you. Take your time, get into a relationship, get to know who your partner is and if God will, it will happen. No need for desperation, desperation can lead to frustration and unnecessary pressure. Unnecessary Pressure can lead to Someone’s death or even push you to the wrong home thereby cutting your future short.
